The Newtown Fair is this Sunday and we'll be Grooving there!...

The festival that tops them all is here! The 2012 Newtown Festival is running now until the 20th of March and it’s your chance to experience the diversity and richness that is uniquely Newtown.

This Sunday the 4th sees Wellingtons biggest annual street party, the famous Newtown Street Fair with 11 performance stages including a buskers pitch, DJ and community stages, over 350 stalls, children’s rides and street performers to entertain 60 000 people! Bigger than ever with a new layout covering 9 streets, it’s the Newtown Street Fair, this Sunday.

We'll be down in the stylish Green St precinct playing and broadcasting a mix of our 4000 hand selected tunes to perfectly set the Cafe style mood in the street. Come up and say Hi, make a request, maybe say a word on-air or even win a CD or ticket to WOMAD!

The following week it’s the Carrara park jazz picnic featuring live jazz all day on Saturday the 10th. Mark your calendar now!
Groove will be down at both events broadcasting and playing tunes.

New player works worldwide!

We went out and got ourselves a nice new radio (on the right) so that everyone can listen no matter what country you live in.

Save on data!

We've also re-jigged the streaming doofer (installed and configured a new streaming encoder) so that it will now use at least 25% less of your data (good for mobile devices) but should still be CD quality stereo!

Have a listen. For example, if you have just a 3GB per month data plan you could listen to Groove for 2 hours a day, every day of the month! (128Kb/s).
(I feel like I could get a sales job for an Internet service provider).

Interference to Groove's FM coverage - Update 2/2/12

We're sorry to advise that on-air reception of our FM signal is about 50% worse than usual at the moment and a station (One eyed FM) that has started broadcasting in Newlands is breaking in to the signal. We believe there may have been storm damage to the antenna system from the high winds over the last few weeks. It seems to be a combination of the damaged Antenna system and interference from the Newlands station.

Watch this space - In the meantime, if reception's not perfect at your place:
